Sales tax is a highly complicated topic…and unfortunately one that small businesses cannot escape from. In fact, with the increasing dependence on sales tax to fund local governments, sales taxes have expanded to cover almost anything that a business sells – from products to services and everything in-between. You need to be aware of them no matter what industry you’re in. Let’s learn the basics of sales tax and how to track and record them in QuickBooks.

Participants will learn the following:
 • What is sales tax and how do you determine if you’re required to collect this tax.
• Using QuickBooks to track your sales tax obligations.
• Adding sales tax to invoices you generate in QuickBooks.
• Paying sales taxes over to your local government.

• Small business that is required (or suspect that they may be required) to collect and remit sales taxes (e.g. retail stores, product distributors, online sales, etc.)
