On Saturday, September 13 (12–6 PM), Power to the People 616 will host Liberation Saturdays at Garfield Park, a free, community-rooted festival amplifying the voices, creativity, and resilience of Black and Brown communities in Grand Rapids. This year’s event partners with the West Michigan Welcome Plan’s Global Gathering, highlighting grassroots collaboration across cultures and the shared celebration of diaspora. Attendees can expect: A farmers' market with free produce. A Black & Brown community vendor market. Storytelling and zine-making workshops. Free flower bouquet bundles by Happy Hour Co. Bounty potluck by Jade Rabbit featuring food from Irie Kitchen. Liberation Lounge presented by Free Alchemy Studio, sounds by Venus FlyyTrap, and live community performances.
