Lawn chairs & blankets welcome! 5 p.m. Doors open. 6 p.m. NPR TINY DESK CONTEST Performance– WDET hosts: juried Michigan entries + public vote on the band to open the fest. 7 p.m. ISMAEL & THE EARTH ISLAND DRUMMERS wsg LANA MINI’S ORIENTAL DANCERS: DANCING ON TARAB WDET World Music host Ismael spins global dance music + live legendary Detroit's percussionists: Booker; Marwan Amen-Ra; Osvaldo Rivera; Margret King Ahmed. Lana Mini & troupe are one of region’s finest oriental dance ensembles. 8:30 p.m. WILL SESSIONS with THE DAMES - Funk outfit Will Sessions joins forces with Dames Brown, electrifying vocal ensemble. 11-piece progressive Detroit band, funk & boogie. THIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! NO TICKET RESERVATION IS REQUIRED.
